Who we are

The First Care Home In Rajasthan For HIV Infected And Affected Children

At A Glance

Founded in 2006 by the Positive Women Network of Rajasthan (PWNR), Aashray Care Home is the first care home in Rajasthan dedicated exclusively to children who are infected with, or affected by, HIV/AIDS. We provide a loving, supportive family-like environment that nurtures hope, dignity, and self-reliance.

Our Story

Many children living with HIV/AIDS are born into conditions of extreme vulnerability. Some are orphans (from one or both parents), others come from families lacking medical, social, or financial support. Stigma and discrimination often isolate them.

Aashray Care Home was born from the urgent need to address these realities — to offer more than safety and shelter, but holistic care: health, education, emotional support, and a pathway to independent living.

Our Vision

“A world in which every HIV-infected or -affected child lives with dignity, courage, and opportunity.”

Our Mission & Core Values

  • Holistic Care & Individualized Attention
Every child receives tailored health and psychosocial support. We believe each one deserves care that fits their specific needs.
  • Health, Well-being & Quality Education
We ensure access to regular medical care, nutritious meals, and full enrolment in good schools. After 18, young adults are helped to access technical & vocational training to build sustainable livelihoods.
  • Safe, Inclusive Environment
Aashray is a place free from judgment, discrimination, and fear. We respect children’s voices, include families in counseling, and foster a sense of belonging.
  • Empowerment & Responsible Adulthood
Training, life skills, mentorship — we equip our children not just to grow, but to thrive and contribute.
  • Community & Social Justice
Inclusion isn’t just internal. We advocate for the rights of HIV-affected children & women, raise awareness, partner with communities, and build broader acceptance.

What We Do

We deliver comprehensive care through the following pillars:

  1. Shelter & Safe Living
A home where children aged 5–18 live in a safe, healthy environment. Our quarters are supervised by dedicated caregivers; nutritious meals and recreational activities are part of daily life.
  2. Health & Medical Support
Regular medical check-ups, ART (antiretroviral therapy) adherence support, access to doctors, emergency care, and stigma-free health services. We also run counseling and psychosocial programs to support mental well-being.
  3. Education & Skills Development
All children are enrolled in schools. We provide uniforms, books, tutoring. For older youth, we facilitate technical or vocational training so they can earn livelihoods.
  4. Family & Social Connections
We believe family ties matter. Relatives may visit, and family members are counseled to best support the child. We foster peer support among children themselves.
  5. Life Skills & Empowerment
Alongside academics, we coach in life-skills: communication, financial literacy, decision-making. We celebrate festivals, encourage creative expression, organize sports, arts, and group activities.
  6. Advocacy & Awareness
We work to reduce stigma in the broader community. We partner with schools, healthcare facilities, and media to increase awareness about HIV-affected children’s rights and inclusion.
